Fulbright Canada Research Chair in Race and Health Policy, University of Memphis
The University of Memphis Cecil C. Humphreys School of Law seeks to fill the position of Fulbright Visiting Research Chair during the 2024-2025 academic year. Specifically, the Fulbright Chair will be focused on research pertaining to Race & Health Policy. The Fulbright Chair will conduct research, develop partnerships, lecture, and potentially teach a semester course. The visiting scholar will have opportunities to deliver public lectures, give seminar presentations, participate in conferences and related research, and otherwise contribute to the intellectual life and scholarship of the University of Memphis School of Law. The Chairholder will benefit from being uniquely situated in a city with a strong and innovative healthcare community, as well as a long and storied history of race-related issues. Opportunities for forward-thinking partnerships abound within the Memphis community, with further collaboration within the interdisciplinary University of Memphis research network supported and encouraged. The visiting scholar will have the advantage of being situated in the heart of the region’s medical and legal communities, with access to city, state, and federal government; private and non-profit hospitals, healthcare facilities, and research institutions; and a number of other organizations dedicated to racial policy reform, social justice initiatives, criminal justice reform, and issues related to racial inequalities.
Specializations: Research in a variety of disciplines that could mitigate racial disparities on health policy is welcome, including law, public health, nursing, medicine, social work, critical race theory, and economics.
