Fulbright Canada Research Chair in Humanities and Social Sciences, The Citadel
The purpose of this Distinguished Chair position is to augment the scholarly diversity and capacity of The School of Humanities and Social Sciences by attracting scholars whose research and teaching interests align with and advance The Citadel’s mission for developing principled leaders in a military environment.
Although scholars in all disciplines in the School will be considered, we are particularly interested in candidates whose discipline and research fit neatly in our Intelligence and Security Studies, Criminal Justice, History, or Political Science departments. Scholars in English, Modern Languages and Psychology are also desirable if they have interests that align with The Citadel’s mission and leadership model.
The Chair will engage with faculty, staff and students through guest lectures, seminars, and one-on-one interactions and will explore long-term collaborations and institutional linkages between her/his home institution and The Citadel. Scholars are encouraged to collaborate with the host institution and give workshops or short seminars and will be expected to teach one course per semester in their discipline.
Of particular importance will be the need to interact meaningfully with the members of the South Carolina Corps of Cadets, the primary undergraduate population at The Citadel, through classes, lectures, small discussions, and other meaningful engagements.
